Vélez-Málaga, my town, you have been my love through so many borders, so many episodes, so many pain…

Information

The María Zambrano foundation and the archives are located in the old neighbour of San Francisco, and more precisely, in the building known by the residents as “Palacio de Beniel”, placed in the square of the same name. You can find the Foundation on the upper floor, once you pass by the bowed courtyard which dates from the 17th century, supported by slim Tuscan columns, and after you ascend a wide staircase covered by a magnificent Mudejar-Renaissance coffered ceiling, centred by the polychrome coat of arms of Don Alonso Medina Medrano. The public access area essentially comprises the researchers’ room, which is equipped with the Foundation’s own archive and library, featuring several computerised descriptive tools, as well as a document management system, internet service, and email. Additionally, it includes the office that manages and administers the Foundation.
